Management in the Age of AI

Stay SaaSy argues that AI makes management more important, not less. Individual work is cheaper than ever, but coordination has not kept up: pull request review times are up 49% while volumes are up 23%. Managers should measure business outcomes rather than activity or AI usage, set service levels for collaboration, and hold engineers to the value they ship, whoever or whatever wrote it. The underlying problem is that AI rewards solo authorship while the real bottleneck is the shared work of reviewing, integrating and shipping other people's code.
